After some considerable help from Åke Bonnier, the only Duchamp-collecting bishop in the world, Moderna Museet has a brand new permanent Duchamp collection.
The pieces are currently on display in two rooms at the museum. Many of them are replicas which were physically realized by Swede Ulf Linde, but approved by Duchamp to be listed as his work.
One of the highlights is two huge glass pieces, one made by Duchamp and the second by the relentless Linde in the 1990s to make sure that it was perfect. Rumour has it that, had he lived, Linde would have made another one, all in the name of striving for perfection.

The Master photographer
Cecil Beaton is a well-known photographer and writer who also got an Oscar for his costume designs, and the works of this all-around-artist are on display at Sven-Harrys Konstmuseum this spring and summer.
It’s the first time his work is showing in Sweden, so this is a new chance to see photos of movie and art stars from the 1930s to the 1970s, as wartime bohemians are mixed with Rolling Stones decadence. There are also some Swedes on display, such as Greta Garbo – who was close to Beaton – and Ingrid Bergman.
Cecil Beaton – The Master Photographer is on display at Sven-Harrys Konstmuseum until the end of August.
Participant Observers
In investigating the area of Ursvik, located in northern Sundbyberg, artist Henrik Andersson (b. 1973) discusses the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI). They were located there until 2005 – even though their presence was mostly secret.
With the mysterious FOI art collection and Museum of Sundbyberg photography collection as a base, he traces how the landscape has changed, physically and mentally.
What role have art and artists played in the Swedish national defence? And what is the status of the Swedish peace movement today? By understanding this, he also hopes to better understand the societal changes today. Find out more this summer at Marabouparken in Sundyberg!
Henrik Andersson’s Participant Observers is on display until 16 August at Marabouparken
