If you’ve been around the central city recently, you might have noticed the intense building work going on around Brunkebergstorg (although, given that half of Stockholm is a permanent building site these days, you could be forgiven for not noticing). That’s because Brunkebergstorg has undergone an enormous renovation, and today is the day to unveil its facelift. The product of a collaboration between Stockholms stad and AMF Fastigheter, the renovations aim to make Brunkebergstorg more welcoming and a new meeting place in the middle of the city. “I am happy that we can now open up Brunkebergstorg as an attractive meeting place for Stockholmers and visitors, right in the heart of the city. Stockholm City should be an accessible place, where everyone feels welcome, and the development of Brunkebergstorg is an important part of achieving that goal”, says Karin Wanngård, finance commissioner for Stockholms Stad.
The opening of the new Brunkebergstorget to the public is being celebrated with a series of events this evening, including live music, DJs and dance shows. It continues until 22:00 tonight. Part of the programme is listed below.
