The one question heralded choreographer Alexander Ekman always asks himself before making a new show is ’Why do we need this piece?’. Before setting up Midsommarnattsdröm at the Swedish Royal Opera in 2015 he apparently came to the same conclusion as critics and audiences did when witnessing the result.
His interpretation was a visual feast and the beautiful choreography steered 40 dancers with the help from music by Mikael Karlsson and vocals by Anna von Hausswolff into a great success. A success that, luckily for those that missed out, is making a comeback in September.

Midsommarnattsdröm  by Alexander Ekman plays on Sep 10 at Kungliga Operan, and continues throughout the month.
