The sleepy Mississippi town of Clarksdale provides the backdrop for a photo exhibition at Hilton Stockholm Slussen by Marcus and Anna Lundstedt.
The pair travelled 4,000 kilometres through the US in search of inspiration and new images of America. While they were on the road the TV series True Detective was aired portraying the very area they were travelling through.
“Perhaps the settings from the show worked as inspiration. The landscape gives you some kind of post-apocalyptic feel, but at the same time it’s kind of beautiful in its imperfectness,” explains Marcus Lundstedt.
Of all the places they visited, Clarksdale made the biggest impression on them.
“Clarksdale is not remotely beautiful in a traditional way, but from a photographer’s point of view it was paradise,” says Anna Lundstedt.
Welcome to Clarksdale is on display until 29 August at Hilton Stockholm Slussen.
