Now in its second year, Stockholm Literature is a festival dedicated to the written word. The idea behind the festival is to bring international authors to Stockholm and pair them together with other authors, artists and filmmakers. And that encounter between literature and art is where the greatness of the festival lies.

“That meeting is very inspiring and something that has to be experienced,” Ann-Sofi Norling at Moderna Museet says. “Already in its first year the festival was a success and we are very much looking forward to the festival again this fall.”

The incentive behind the concept is explained by Stefan Ingvarsson, co-founder of the event and the festival’s art director. “We think the best way of oxygenize the cultural life here is by inviting the world to Stockholm for a dialogue between art forms”, he says.

The two-and-a-half-day program at Moderna Museet will feature 60 events and include several prominent international authors who will be seen in conversation with other creative minds. As a few examples of the festival program you can experience Michail Sjiskin, one of the most notable contemporary Russian authors, in conversation with the important Estonian voice Sofi Oksanen, or you can listen to Edmund White, possibly the greatest narrator of male homosexuality’s modern history in the Western world, speaking to Aykan Safoglu, a Turkish filmmaker and artist.

Or you could listen to Ying Chen, born in Shanghai but now residing in Canada and the creator of novels on cultural identity, in conversation with Stockholm based artist Meric Algün Ringborg, who deals with the literary text in her art. Some of her art, discussing identity and belonging, will also be on show during the festival, as will her film *A World of Blind Change* with Michael Nyqvist.
