Set during the sectarian struggles of Tudor Britain, Friedrich Schiller’s classic verse drama opens with Mary Queen of Scots imprisoned in England. She stands accused of the murder of her husband, but the real reason for her detention is the political threat she poses to her cousin, Elizabeth of England. Mary struggles desperately to save her life while Elizabeth hesitates to sign her death warrant. Directed by Peter Konwitschny, sisters Stina and Ylva Ekblad are starring in the lead roles in this intriguing drama.
