WEEKENDER 272801.02/03

by daniela trujillo evb

I’ve been thinking it and seeing it with my own eyes and recent texts from other Stockholmers confirm it: we all feel as if spring is in the air, right around the corner.

The sun has been shining and we can only hope it sticks around for the weekend. But I am no weather forecaster, no meteorologist or soothsayer so until then or until we know the warmth is here to stay, check out our top picks for this weekend.

Don’t party too hard, y’all. Eller?

FRIDAY 27th

Comedy/Theatre

lost-in-translation

This show is not to be missed! You’re lucky if it isn’t already sold out as we here at TS consider it solid gold. It’s the perfect way to end your workweek and maybe get the juices flowing before a night on the town. You’re gonna laugh your ass off, and so is the rest of the crowd.

Lost in Translation

Boulevard Teatern @ 2000

Götgatan 73

Check out the site and buy tickets here.

Music

afrobeat22222

I am sorry, but just the way this event is described makes me wanna drool and shake my ass at the same time. Maybe not the sexiest of combos but it sure sounds like a good time. Feel the beat!

Music is the Weapon

Eleven-man Strong Afrobeat Fantasy

Fasching @ 2000

sibi

If you don’t know who Sibille Attar is or you haven’t heard her latest collaboration with Adam Tensta then maybe you should wake the hell up and/ or dance to her vibes!

The musician Sibille Attar will visit Bar Brooklyn, giving us her best albums from then, and now.

Bar Brooklyn, Debaser Strand, 18-03

Hornstulls Strand

SATURDAY 28TH

Music

dangelo

Considering my pick for Friday’s music recommendation, it could be said that I am in a sexy mood. There is just no way one should miss D’Angelo. Aside from being a legend and pioneer, this concert may be a great date idea (assuming you and your date have great taste in music) and may be all the lubrication you need for a funky night. Hell, you may not even need alcohol after his performance!

D’Angelo

Bare-chested neo-soul

Annexet, Globen @1930

Buy tickets and such here.

I have an Australian friend who introduced me to The Preatures. He confessed he was obsessed with the sultry lead singer and that their performances are amazing… Only one way to find out, right? Just in case D’Angelo isn’t your vibe.

The Preatures

Australian rock’n roll

Kägelbanan, Södra Teatern @ 2000

SUNDAY 1st

muse

And on the seventh day, there was rest.

Just kidding. Well, only kind of. After a long week of working, followed by two nights of no doubt binge-drinking and the shenanigans that follow, Sunday really does seem to be a perfect day to take it easy. And holy shit! It’s March. Boy does time fly!

If the weather is nice take a bakis-stroll (bakis= hungover) in your hood, head to the bio (movie theatre), a badhuset or straight up sleep in and waste the day. I once read that it isn’t a Sunday unless you’ve wasted it until around 2000 and then get severely depressed. Whether the depression comes from wasting the day or from the realization that Monday is only a night’s sleep away, I am uncertain. My guess is probably both.

But if you must be out and about, why not hit up a museum? It’s the perfect combination of slowly walking around, a bit of focus on the art but no one is forcing you to concentrate black belt style and it’s family-friendly too.

Sunday is also the perfect day to truly treat yourself to a nice brunch. Read about our latest hot spots for food, here.
