Dining experience Urban Deli has opened up a new location in Stockholm. Situated at Sveavägen 44 in the heart of the city, the new development will be the chain’s biggest outlet yet. The first Urban Deli opened on Nytorget in 2009.

Speaking to Totally Stockholm about the new venture, Urban Deli VD Johannes Andvaller said: “We’re hoping to add some vibrancy. Our goal is to become a social hub in terms of food, drinks and enjoying yourself. We’re offering quite a broad range of food products. I feel like there’s no example of a classic ‘watering-hole’ in this area, and that’s what we hope to be”.

The new location will feature all the standards you’d expect from a new venue in Stockholm, including a 250 seat restaurant, a café and a bar. But there are also a number of interesting features. There will be an open-air roof bar, situated thirty metres over Sveavägen with views over the entire city centre. There will also be a food hall, where customers can browse food options and a food boutique, where customers can drop in and pick up ready-to-go dishes. Andvaller says: “Since we have lots of people working in this area, we’re hoping to offer them good quality food that they can pick up and prepare at home. Or perhaps if they don’t have the time, or don’t feel like it, they can pop in here for a quick bite”.

In addition, the site will also feature a Food Studio, a state of the art kitchen which can be booked for events. Andvaller says that it would be ideal for event launches, cooking courses or even team-building exercises.

Hotell

Finally, this is the first time that Urban Deli is expanding into the hospitality industry, with the announcement of an on-site 106-room underground hotel, situated directly below the Urban Deli venues. The rooms, which range in size between 12 and 24 square metres, will be equipped with a range of features, from subwoofer speakers to 1GB WiFi. The price is expected to begin from 695 SEK a night.

Urban Deli Sveavägen opens its doors on September 5.
