Stockholm city is getting a much-needed vitamin injection. At least the potential is there, with both the new Gert Wingårdh-designed hotel Miss Clara and a new branch of Urban Deli opening at Sveavägen 48 and 44 – the block just off the crossing of Sveavägen and Kungsgatan – this spring and summer.

The hotel, owned by the Nobis Group, boasts a street-level restaurant serving updated Swedish and international brasserie classics, with former Operakällaren chef Danny Guest at the helm. The bar is tended by Robert Radovic, who’s also responsible for the popular Gold Bar at the Nobis Hotel on Norrmalmstorg.

Urban Deli is taking over parts of the former Skandia building to further develop the concept successfully deployed at Nytorget and in Sickla. In addition to a food market, restaurant, café and bar, there will also be a gym and an exhibition space, and guests will be able to eat and drink on the building’s roof terrace, with views over Stockholm.

A café serving lighter dishes will open this summer, while the remaining spaces are expected to be completed for spring 2015.
