Gramercy by Martone Cycling Co.

Out of all the beautiful two-wheeled, pedal-powered vehicles produced today, many of them have a common denominator in being completely useless. Weighted down by design features, delicate materials or a completely outlandish price tag, they are mere objects, easy on the eye but difficult to live with. Lorenzo Martone (Marc Jacobs’ ex-hubby) of Martone Cycling is bucking that particular trend, bringing us a practical, convenient bike that is neither exuberantly expensive nor excessively flimsy. Simple lines and elegant design cues make for a bicycle that combines beauty and usability, and it even comes equipped with automatic transmission.

Revolights

Revolights

For those of you who remember the early 1980’s movie Tron (yes, we know, there was a sequel released in 2010) will feel right at home when switching on your new set of Revolights. Revolights are the brainchild of creative and forward-thinking designers Kent Frankovich and Adam Pettler. Not wanting to mess up the clean lines of their sleek vintage fixies, yet staying visible during night-time bike rides, they created the white and red LED arches that pierce the darkness without cluttering the aesthetics of the ride. They are, hands down, the coolest bike lights to date.

Thule Pack ‘n Pedal

Not exactly world-famous for a glamorous approach to design, the Swedish cargo carrier manufacturer Thule might soon be number one in ingenuity and quality within their field. They recently launched a new line of highly practical Pack ‘n Pedal saddle-bags for bicycles. The bags are waterproof, made of durable materials and can be attached almost anywhere on a bicycle. In tune with today’s technology-driven society, the Pack ‘n Pedal bags are equipped with a SafeZone – a compartment in which you keep your sensitive electronics, such as an iPad, laptop or cell phone. For convenient storage, the Pack ‘n Pedal bags can be collapsed and flattened.
