Stanmore Pitch Black

Putting together a New Year’s bash? Ring in 2015 with a bang by dancing the last of this year’s last night away to the powerful sound of Stanmore Pitch Black speakers. Small in size but big on volume, so to speak, the new edition of the cult loudspeaker has the same vintage look as we’ve grown accustomed to, but features all the gadgets, details and inputs needed in this day and age. The compact active stereo, which yields clean and precise sound, is the latest product from Marshall, the audio company that was conceived by Jim Marshall in a small drum shop in Hanwell in the United Kingdom in 1962.

Transparent Speaker

Small Stockholm-based design studio People People are behind an invention that has rendered quite a few columns of text in the world’s leading tech and design magazines. It is good to see that the Transparent Speaker, called ‘the speaker of the future’ by some, has finally been put in production through People Products, a project that aims to create products that address the needs of real people. With its transparent front and sides, the speaker is designed to fit seamlessly into the user’s life (and home decor), and all its components are replaceable and recyclable.

Copenhagen

Another way to build an audio system, which historically required a set-up that entailed quite a few ponderous black boxes and endless reams of cable, is to let it blend in with the surrounding. The Vifa Copenhagen loudspeaker is quite the chameleon with its portability, dainty size and six colour options. And since it is designed by acclaimed firm Design-People, known for creating projects inspired by women, and covered using a specially-woven textile from Europe’s leading fabric manufacturer Kvadrat, it is also sure to appeal to the fairer sex, as well as the more traditional male sound nerd.
