Gryning and Skymning

Gryning

Train commuting to and from work can sometimes inspire to things other than those flash dreams that manifest themselves in the mind when nodding off to sleep. Designers Sissa Sundling and Karolina Kroon are the creators of the Gryning (‘dawn’ in English) and Skymning (dusk) wallpapers for Sandberg, and were inspired by those early morning and late afternoon train rides to and from work around the area of lake Åsunden, just near Ulricehamn. The motifs were first painted using watercolours before being digitally transferred to wallpaper.

Summer Picnic Collection

Since its launch in 2009, H&M Home has furnished homes all around the globe with an eclectic mix of affordable products. As of late, the brand has come into its own, finding ways to offer on-trend designs, but with their own twist. For summer, the in-house design team has worked up a dashing and splashing mix of tropical colours called Summer Picnic, which instantly bring to mind a cooling piña colada on a steamy, tropical summer’s night. We especially love this cushion, which is reminiscent of a painter’s interpretation of the Mediterranean Sea.

Syrén

Graphic designer Matilda Svensson has a thing for illustrations and patterns, which is evident from looking at her textile work for the likes of Cervera and Home Nature. A preferred method of illustration involves the use of aquarelle paint, a discipline that she has used in the creation of her own series of prints. The Syrén print is a summery bouquet of colour, available in a limited edition of 75 numbered posters in the size 40×30 centimetres. The entire line of prints, all picturing flora and fauna, are currently on show at Skåne hotspot Hörte Brygga, a cool café in the tiny fishing village of Hörte.
