Comedy: Trevor Noah

South African comedian Trevor Noah shot to fame last year after it was announced that he was to succeed Jon Stewart on American news, satire and comment programme The Daily Show. Stewart had hosted the show for over a decade and many were sceptical of its viability without him, but Noah managed to slip into the role with ease. He also puts in the hours on the stand-up circuit, with a routine that draws on news events, pop culture and Noah’s own backstory as a child born in apartheid-era South Africa (Noah is mixed-race, and his parents’ relationship was illegal at the time of his birth and led to his mother being jailed).
