Sun Kil Moon (Mark Kozelek) arrives at Debaser Beach with a new plate of “Benji” in the trunk!

It may be conniving and superficial or in-depth and multi-sized, but it’s easy to see why countless film productions – from masterful documentary Tarnation to American youth upper-class orgy Dawson Creek – have chosen just Mark Kozeleks arrangements. Alone with his nylon stringed guitar and a voice that is both fragile and confident Kozelek conveys the emotional authenticity that drills into us all. Whether it was with acclaimed group Red House Painters, as his own name or as Sun Kil Moon, his music is that which touches and stays.

For awhile Kozelek’s music was easily used as an emotional trigger, or as a backdrop. It is literary music; the lyrics are stunning autobiographical narratives, that require attention and consideration. It’s a kind of antithesis to download generation experience’s pounding spirit. Sit still. Listen. Feel.

February 11 this year he released his sixth album, “Benji.” It’s been highly praised by virtually everyone:

9.2/10 Pitchfork, 9/10 Exclaim, 9/10 The Line Of Best Fit, 4/5 Guardian, 8/10 Festival rumors, 5/6 GAFFA, 4/5 Aftonbladet…

With him on the tour, he has Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley.
DJ: Andreas Wåhla Wåhlström (Fritz’s Corner)
