Tälja
To experience what happens when you cross the sounds of mating whales with the theme music from the Netflix series *House of Cards*, log on to hellotalja.com and click on the video that is meant to inspire the analogously challenged to stop and smell the roses.
Tälja – to carve – is a soothing pastime that brings us closer to nature. The *Tälja* kits come in two different varieties, containing two pieces of wood, a sturdy wood-carving knife manufactured by Morakniv of Sweden, sandpaper, paraffin oil and – last but not least – a first aid kit.
Hantverka
Mimmi Staaf and Josefine Halfwordson are the women behind decor hotspots Mimmi Staaf Möbelmakeri and Betonggruvan. A while back, the duo reignited the fine art of macramé, prompting a resurgence in fabricating decorative and useful items by tying various knots together and making patterns in the process. Their macramé classes were soon overbooked and the macramé pendant flowerpot holders soon sold so well that they were struggling to keep up. To provide a remedy, Staaf and Halfwordson have created a DIY macramé kit for the avid do-it-yourself-er.
Organic Makers
For those of us who aren’t that keen on smearing our faces and bodies with residual matters from the petroleum industry, Organic Makers are busy developing kits of do-it-yourself cosmetics. It doesn’t take much to realize that the solution that Organic Makers provide slots nicely into a growing niche of the market. The cosmetics kits contain nothing but natural ingredients such as almond oil, coconut oil, shea butter and beeswax, to name but a few. The ingredients are all delivered in cool-looking old-school pharmaceutical bottles and jars.
