Revolving Bookcase
Design studio Folkform give a piece of archetypal furniture their own spin (pun intended) for the ‘Local Design’ exhibition, put on by Svenskt Tenn and running until November 6,. The ‘Revolving Bookcase’ is produced in black lacquered ash by Eriksson & Söner Cabinet Makers in Vrena, just outside of the city of Nyköping.

Kontur
Also part of ‘Local Design’ is the ‘Kontur’ vase, created by newly-minted design talent Tim Karlsson, who earned his degree from Beckman’s College of Design this year. The vase is a tribute to Svenskt Tenn founder Estrid Ericson and merges the two-dimensional and three-dimensional: the continuous line creates a contour, like a drawing of a vase in a vase. The piece is mouth-blown at Reijmyre Glasbruk in the region of Småland.

Trädgårdsmatta
Trädgårdsmattan (‘garden carpet’ in English), is designer and artist Jakob Solgren’s first forage into textiles, after having worked mainly in pewter for Svenskt Tenn in the past. Solgren’s vision is a garden seen from above, and features a warped geometric pattern and an oblong hole in the middle. For the complex manufacturing of the piece, Solgren turned to the traditional carpet manufacturer Kasthall, located in the small town of Kinna.
