Norrlandsgatan 24

The first measure of an interior decorator’s sense of style could possibly be the way they present themselves in their own press images. Spanish artist-cum-designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán has an impeccable eye for detail; not only does he position himself in one of his own wonderful creations, but he also has the good sense to include his stunning dog.

And when he opened his doors to Australian Vogue Living, it was immediately evident that Lázaro is a man who practices what he preaches. His home studio is, like the numerous restaurants and hotels he has worked on in Barcelona, the epitome of chic; an eclectic mix of styles and very rich in details.

His connection with Sweden does not stop at the light brown Swedish leather office chairs from the 1960s in his home – he has been given free rein as interior stylist for all that is about to occur at Norrlandsgatan 24.

Berns are giving the 1895 building a new life and in January the ground-floor restaurant and the green bar will open up displaying Lázaro Rosa-Violáns harmonious interior world to style-conscious Stockholmers in pursuit of a refined taste on all levels.

The second stage of the townhouse makeover, with a fine dining restaurant and yet another bar plus a roof garden, is scheduled for completion mid-2013.
