Director Mattias Andersson has a thing for bringing a little bit of psychology to the stage. Having previously created the shows The Mental States Of Gothenburg and the Mental States Of Sweden, he’s now got a new version: The Mental States Of Sweden in Dance. For the show, 40 people from different backgrounds were asked a question by the journalist Shang Imam: ‘Is there any special event from your life that you would like to see danced by Sweden’s foremost dance company?’ Andersson took the answers and recruited Cullbergbaletten to make it happen. The finished performance aims to give a picture of Sweden’s mental state today.
