It all began with a band called Norrsken. The Örebro-based rockers eventually split up, and the members went off to start three of Sweden’s most famous stoner rock bands ever to have lived: Witchcraft, Graveyard and Dead Man. Out of these three, the West coast based band Graveyard are the ones who are famously known to a wide audience. Witchcraft hasn’t played together in a while, and Dead Man are keeping themselves on the down-low it seems like.
However, this is a band deserving to be on the top. Dead Man have that careless, guitar-and-drum heavy stoner rock that you just got to love. It’s fun, slow and head banging approved–unlike much you hear on the radio. Celebrating the 1960s garage and stoner rock, these bands are nurturing a legacy that is utterly fading. Let’s make it stay a little longer, eh? Go see these awesome guys on KGB this weekend, and welcome spring with some proper stoner rock from the heart of Sweden.
Dead Man is at KGB on May 2.
