Dixie Chicks @ Stockholm Waterfront

Dixie-Chicks

Famous for basically telling the former President of the United States George W. Bush to f*** off, the Dixie Chicks are not your average country gals. The massive protests following their statement in 2003 about the Texas president made the band both hated and loved.

The Dixie Chicks were being both praised and pushed down because of their unexpected – and rare – political stance. But that would only make their comeback three years later more powerful.

“Not ready to make nice” was released in 2006 and is still their most played song. It describes their continuous attitude that they’re not going to let anyone tell them what to say and how to think. This is why the Dixie Chicks are one of the coolest bands of our time. Not to mention they play country music so that’s pretty much a done deal for me.

The amazing Dixie Chicks are coming to Stockholm for a show at the Waterfront. Since their start in 1989 the trio has been kicking down norms and barriers with their fantastic music. The debut Wide Open Spaces marked the beginning of a new era of American music. They are the last of the old country stars, and the first of the new.

Dixie Chicks are at Stockholm Waterfront on March 17.
