Around a year ago a jam-packed Debaser Slussen partied alongside the Mankind collective while the German extravert ‘Bonaparte’ also graced the stage. Now get ready to repeat the experience as Mankind returns for another bonkers party.
The show promises extravagant extremes and a chance to throw up your own hands and party the house down. For Double Feature #2 we also proudly present Riddarna. Just days before the release of their third album the Gothanburgers have done us the great honour of choosing Debaser Medis for their release party. Expect things to get lively.
Mankind
Mankind is a young go-getting group from Hökarängen, Stockholm. Their infamous and uncompromising performances have earned them a loyal European following even though they’ve yet to release their first album. Their debut single, Blood, Sugar was hailed by major American music blogs such as The Needle Drop and they’ve recently found themselves on NME ‘s Radar blog.
A debut album is on the way, recorded with Gordon Raphael who’s previously produced artists such as The Strokes and Regina Spector. PSL is anticipating great things from these guys. The Line of Best Fit describes them as an “a shock to the system not unlike a shot of adrenaline straight to the heart,” or as Anthony at The Needle Drop puts it “MANKIND – forever!”
Riddarna
Gothenburg boys Edward Forslund, Patrik Jakubowski and Erik Dahlström together make up Riddarna. In the Fall they appeared in the movie Feel No Sorrow with an acclaimed cover of Nationalteatern’s Kolla Kolla and on February 12th they release their highly anticipated third album.
But it is still through their live performances that Riddarna earn their place as one of today’s best Swedish rock bands. As GP puts it, “Right now Riddarna are the most essential Swedish rock band since Bob Dog were puppies.”
DJ Haydn will also be playing tonight and together with his house and phonk style this young gentleman has made quite a name for himself in Stockholm’s underground club scene. Among his accomplishments are having his productions played at the Boiler Room and collaborations with Yung Sherman and DJ Smokey.
