Have you every heard experimental jazz with an overlay of psychedelic rock? Well, if you haven’t, please enter your closest music service and type in “Dungen.” This band is the brainchild of musician Gustav Ejstes; he solely writes all the music, and plays basically every instrument on the albums. But, since Gustav Ejstes still is a human being, at least physically, he needs some guys to help him out live. And boy do they help him.

The band Dungen are quite unique in the Swedish music climate. Even though the band have many influences from ’70s progressive rock, there’s no clear political message and this is why they’ve not really been placed in that genre either. Can you really think of another band playing 1970s-inspired progressive rock, but it’s not really progressive rock, with psychedelic tunes and jazzy overtones? Yeah, I thought so.

Make sure to catch this melting pot of sound at Filmhuset this weekend. They’re there on May 3.
