Frida-Sundemo

Frida Sundemo’s music has been described as a vital life force, running through a starry night with a force only nature can evoke. Her song Drawn To You has received lots of attention for its joyous and unique approach of electronic pop music and what it can sound like these days. While the theme of Swedish pop is elastic, just like American hip hop and r’n’b, Frida Sundemo takes the Swedish pop, drowns it in playful electronic vibes and adds a dash of perceptive song writing.

Taking a break from her Gothenburg based studies in medicine, Frida has landed in a music climate that seems to accept rather than disown. Last year, Frida was signed to the British music label Parlophone, and released the EP Indigo. A name which was thought of by her co-writer and producer Joel Humlén. Her next EP, Lit Up By Neon, is due for release later in May.

Swedish music is definitely flourishing, and Frida Sundemo is one of the people who’s not going to miss this window of opportunity. Although her medicine studies have been put aside for creating music, the experiences from meeting patients and hearing life stories has in fact served as inspiration for Sundemo’s sometimes melancholic, yet sometimes joyous lyricism–all covered in a flying carpet of sound that’s bound to take you to the stars.

Frida Sundemo is throwing a release party for her upcoming EP, Lit Up By Neon (Best Fit Recordings) at Södra Teatern on May 7.
