Gig Highlight: The Jesus and Mary Chain

Few bands possess a sicker version of starpower than The Jesus and Mary Chain. The band, with the Scottish brothers Jim and William Reid as its core, blew a hole in the UK music scene in the 1980s with the warped melting-steel take on pop music that made up their debut album Psychocandy (in the build-up to the record they were accused of inciting a riot at one of their gigs, which led them to be banned from performing in parts of the UK by several local councils). After splitting in 1999, the band reunited in 2007 (having been given a commercial boost by the inclusion of their single Just Like Honey in the Sofia Coppola film Lost In Translation), and this year released their first new album since that split, Damage And Joy. They play Stockholm in October.
