Glasvegas @ Berns

glasvegas

Glasvegas came like a treacherous storm, an echoing, marching storm that swept everyone away with the song ”Daddy’s Gone”. The second single ”Geraldine” carried on their particular sound with grace, and even though they’ve released three albums in the last five years, it’s those songs, released in 2008, that linger.

During the pre-production of their second album, Euphoric /// Hearbreak \\\, Glasvegas-drummer Caroline McKay left the band, before any recording had even begun. However, their recent move to a Santa Monica beach house would not be wasted. For five months the remaining band members finished the initial demoing of the album. Upon returning to Scotland, Glasvegas announced a new member of the band, Swedish drummer Jonna Löfgren, who joined the band in the post-production phase. The result was far from the style of their debut; the beach house, the shifting of drummers and an intimate, 8-day tour around small Scottish town whom usually are not chosen for major tours, took the band in a new direction music-wise. The purpose of the short tour was to make sure Scotland would be the first to hear their new music.

With the release of their third album Later…When The TV Turns To Static, the band are coming back to Sweden for the first time since early 2012. Their playing three shows in the north, and one of them are right in our backyard. The legendary venue Berns will be the hosts of the Glasvegas show and this is certainly something to look forward to. Maybe we’ll get to hear ”Daddy’s Gone”.
