Quote

Designed by Swedish art director Julia Stenius and handcrafted in Carrara marble in Salerno, in Southern Italy, Quote is a bookend with a difference, made to support your books and to give writers and journalists a much-needed boost by using their words. In a world long dominated by cheesy, “shabby chic” wooden letters forming watered-down words of wisdom in innumerable suburban living rooms for the last decade, Stenius’ marble bookends are a refreshing piece of home décor.

Rains x Playtype

Danish type font creators Playtype design more than just fonts. By using theirknowledge in a highly-niched market, they have over the years ventured into various cool collaborations with other parts of the market, adhering to their core business by decorating coffee mugs, posters, notebooks and T-shirts using the simplicity of letters as embellishment. The latest iteration of Playtype’s business is the raincoat Rains x Playtype. Conveniently launched in a season when a comprehensive rain-repellent shield is needed on a daily basis, the simple but stylish raincoat comes in black or army colours with randomly-placed white Playtype letters.

Neonart

Italian design firm Seletti wants in on the market of designed graphics through letters. Instead of just fabricating moulds to pour concrete letters that read “love”, or (as the latest poster fashion dictates) using letters themselves to form strong graphics, Seletti is doing something a little different by fabricating all the letters of the alphabet, numbers and symbols in fluorescent tubes. The design, by Selab, is completely modular, enabling buyers and decorators to form their own words or expressions by simply connecting letters using a conventional plug and transformer.
