MGMT2013-478x307

One of America’s most beloved rock bands is heading to our city to exude their psychedelic indie-rock and electronic vibes into Stockholm’s Cirkus theatre. The group was founded by Benjamin Goldwasser and Andrew Van Wyngarden back in 2004 and released their first album, Oracular Spectacular, under Columbia Records. Their first time playing on European soil was back in 2007 in London where they opened for The Courteeners. Since then, they have flourished into a world-recognized rock band and have headlined many shows and famous festivals all over globe. With their hit “Electric Feel” making its mark on radio’s overplayed song lists everywhere, it seems like it has been almost a life-time since we’ve heard about any note-worthy work to come from the group.

To our delight, MGMT’s most recent and third album, which is self titled MGMT, came out just days ago including work they have done since 2012. Both Benjamin and Andrew have been busy in the studio working this album to perfection – trying to give the world something worth waiting for.  Yet, many critics say the new album hints sign of a break-up to come, due to its melancholy vibe, which leaves fans like us to worry.

Will a break-up be in the near future for MGMT as has been rumored? We hope not. The only thing we do know is this show will be one to remember whether it’s the last in Stockholm or one of many more to come. It’s also a great way to show the band that Stockholm is not ready to let go of them any time soon.

Off the new album:

And for old time’s sake:

MGMT plays at Cirkus on 29th of September.
