The Thielska gallery at Djurgården is back, with a new exhibition featuring turn-of-the-century gems such as Carl Larsson, Rickard Bergh and Edvard Munch. We spoke with Anna Jansson at the gallery about the show.

What do you think we should most look forward to about the exhibition?

When the first snow has fallen and you can take a long walk on Djurgården and stop in at Thielska for contemplation, calmness and of course coffee and cake.

Who was Ernest Thiel?Ernest Thiel was a Swedish banker at the turn of the century 1900. He became one of the biggest art collectors in Sweden, and commissioned Ferdinand Boberg to build him what today is Thielska Galleriet to serve as his home, as well as gallery to his art collection.

There has been some discussion about making Thielska more modern. How do you feel about that?

Any day now Thielska Galleriet will have a new director. The future for Thielska Galleriet will be in his or her hands.

Until we know more, visit Djurgården for the perfect crisp winter weekend stroll and some classical art!
