Stockholm White
A lot of people make fun of the Stockholmsvitt – Stockholm white – moniker these days. It seems to have been revived during the early 2000’s, when seemingly every condo in the Swedish capital sported nothing but white walls, white furniture – white everything. The saying goes that the Stockholm white history harks back to the 1950’s – the time when another term was born: Scandinavian Design. Celebrating the real birth of Stockholm white, high-end bed manufacturer Hästens is launching a limited edition of its hand-made modern classic sporting a special colour and pattern, inspired by the Stockholm white palette.
Livet Hemma
One of the world’s most renowned trend forecasters, Lidewij Edelkoort, recently visited our fair city to talk about trends for 2015/2016. In one of the perhaps most trend-anxious cities in the world, its design-conscious citizens can draw a huge sigh of relief. White is coming back – but now dubbed as “Milky Way”. According to Edelkoort, who gave a lengthy speech about fashion, architecture and design in general, we are to surround ourselves with rich and creamy hues, all based on white as the solid ground on which everything is built. Think plaster, ebony and marble. Read more about the Milky Way trend on IKEA’s cool interior design blog Livet Hemma.

H&M Home towels
Since a few years back, Swedish fashion brand H&M offers a home collection named H&M Home. Much like the fashion counterpart, H&M Home are quite agile and alert in bringing out new collections that are on-trend. For the autumn collection, we can’t help but notice that Stockholm white very well may have been an influence; especially when taking a look at their large collection of white patterned terry cloth bath towels. We like the contemporary take on something so incredibly basic and simple as a fluffy thick towel. Call it Stockholm white or Milky Way – either is cool as a Nybroviken breeze.
