Los Angeles based artist Sterling Ruby opens his first exhibition at Bonniers Konsthall in Stockholm this December. Ruby has been described as an artist who tries to expose the underlying power structures in society. In Soft Work he transforms objects of comfort such as pillows, blankets and quilts into objects of terror and fear questioning the established notions of safety and security.

Inspired by marginalized societies, maximum security prisons, warfare and urban gangs he uses a mixture of materials including glazed ceramics, urethane even nail varnish.

The exhibition opens on Dec 15 and runs until March 2013.
