0d891d77-180b-4e38-9955-7b282e68895bMimmi Evrell books and hosts the weekend nights at Exopark, Stockholm’s new rooftop art bar at Sveavägen 44. Previously, she has been running clubs with DJ crew Namaste at Vardagsrummet and f12, among other places. Before that, she was a musician, so music has always been her number one thing.

What are your plans this year?

My plans are to stay in Stockholm this year. I spent last year in South Korea and it was amazing, but this year I’m looking forward to staying in Stockholm, which is great because I love this city so much.

Tell us about Exopark?

Absolut Art Bars is an international big thing, and when they pop up they usually do it for a couple of days. The unique thing this time is that the bar is running for a whole summer. So me and my team will stay in Stockholm and create the best summer bar in town. During my days off the roof you will find me in a bikini at Reimersholme.

What can we expect from your club nights?

First of all, the location is amazing, just on its own. Just like the artist Thomas Hämén who created the art bar up on the roof said, it’s like being somewhere and not at the same time. You are in the middle of the city, but you are also above it and away from it.

During my nights I will book DJs I love and who I know will be able to create the perfect beginning of a long summer night. It’s mostly going to be quite chilled music, like moody house and r’n’b, but I’m hoping for some dance moves as well!

What has been your inspiration in creating this?

I am very inspired by the rooftop parties in Seoul, so I will hopefully try and recreate that same feeling at Exopark. The bar opens at noon and so there will be some day, afternoon, after work and evening parties. At the opening of Exopark we had a double rainbow. I can’t promise you that every night but I will do my best!

How did you end up working with the art bar?

They asked me and I said yes!

Any nightlife highlights this summer that we shouldn’t miss?

Stockholm’s best nightclub right now is Celezte! It is located in the beautiful house where Riksarkivet used to be located on Riddarholmen, and is hosted by the best people in Stockholm’s club life right now. A fun mix of good music, queer club nights, art performances and just regular parties.

Any other favourite night spots?

Anywhere where you can go swim after the club.

What do you think we will see more of in the music scene in 2015?

I think there will be even more different takes on hiphop, like Dej Loaf and ILoveMakonnen, hopefully more well-produced music like Jamie xx and, I can’t wait to hear new stuff from Sweden’s most interesting and on-point artist right now, Ji Nilsson!

Finally, what is your favorite thing about Stockholm?

To me it’s home, and I am really happy about that. The best thing is the water and that people here do things. We might be a small city, but Stockholm is packed with creative people that makes it a better place for all.
