In the same way a good tune in your headphones can make anyone walk with a completely different swagger, a tiny piece of hair on your upper lip is all it takes to make your perception of yourself grow into a stature of indomitable proportions.
And during the month of Movember you can combine looking sharp with doing your bit for humanity.
It all started back in 2003 when a group of Australian friends, most definitely in a bar, decided to bring the moustache back in to fashion and raise a little money for charity while doing so – “changing the face of men’s health” as they so eloquently put it.
The craze spread like wildfire – from Australia, through Asia, on to North America and Europe. So far it has raised €135 Million in the process.
This year, Movember is branching out into Sweden for the first time. During the month of November, moustaches will be grown, admired and sponsored all over Stockholm.
If you want to become a Mo Bro, just register at Movember.com and start the month with a clean- shaven face. Then let it grow as much as you possibly can for the duration of November.
If the shaving bit is unpleasant, Movember arrange a “Shavedown” between 10 and 12 on November 1st at Barbers & Books, where the Södermalm barber gives you a first class old-fashioned shave free of charge.
A Movember exhibition will be available for perusing at Marie Laveau all through November, and they will host Movember nights every Thursday with favourable prices in the bar for all Mo Sistas and Mo Bros.
The month will reach its climax on November 29 when the Movember Gala will award the sought- after Miss Movember crown and the title winning Mo on the face of the Man of Movember.
