Going to a wake is never going to be anything other than traumatic, and particularly when it’s the wake of a childhood friend. So when, in Alejandro Leiva Wenger’s new play Minnestund, Jon gets a call from Minna telling that her son and his childhood friend Sackarias has passed away, it’s understandably a shock – but for an unusual reason.

Jon has absolutely no memory of Sackarias. At the wake he encounters a family whose memories of Sackarias vastly differ, and who expect him to fill in the gaps. Minnestund, directed by Frida Röhl, is a play about memory, how malleable it is, and ultimately how it affects us and shapes who we are.

Minnestund opens at Stadsteatern Kilen on Feb 19
