What does it mean to be an artist?
Nationalmuseum, Moderna Museet and Konstakademien are all proving the strength of their collections in a collaborative meeting of different epochs. With the title Konstnären (The Artist) they show work that discusses the different roles of the artist, as well as the norms, ideals and myths surrounding it. Our idea of what an artist is has to do with social, gender and economic structures in the society we live in. Come see around 100 pieces, with work from Rembrandt to Cindy Sherman – there is no need to rush, the show runs all the way until September in Nationalmuseum’s temporary space at Konstakademien, Fredsgatan 12.
