ART: ROLF DE MARE
Stockholm-born Rolf de Maré was a 20th century art collector and founder of Ballets Suédois in Paris, a city wherein he created the world’s first museum for dance. Lucky for us over in Sweden, de Maré ultimately moved significant parts of his collection from Paris to Stockholm in order to create the Dansmuseet. Erik Naslund, the current director of the Dansmuseet, has curated an exhibit as part of Stockholms Kulturfestival that shines a light on the several forms taken by the Swedish cultural icon that is Rolf de Maré. Progressive both in artistic taste and sexual orientation, de Maré was always ahead of his time.
Tours are available in French (1600), English (1700) and Swedish (1300) on August 20. More info at dansmuseet.se
