“Just like Harlem in the 60s” was the verdict from an American lady who happened to experience the Tensta Gospel Choir when visiting Stockholm. The choir, originally set up by Michelle Nakagawa as a project building bridges and integrating different cultures, is now celebrating 20 years. Ever since their inauguration, hundreds of singers have passed through the gospel church in Tensta, with some, like Sabina Ddumba, Mapei and even Lykke Li, going on to greater things in the music world.
They mark the occasion of their 20th anniversary by taking over the Royal Opera for a night of gospel, spirituality, soul, hiphop and funk.
