The Pistonhead Foundation Tour is a new gig concept, bringing the best new Swedish artists to play gigs across the country’s cities. They’ve already brought psych-rockers Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation to Stockholm in early November, and now they’re bringing two of Stockholm’s brightest neo-pop talents to the newly opened venue Hilma this Thursday. Yemi is technically a rapper, but no single label can do his music justice. Yemi’s music is hip hop reimagined as a electronic dreamworld. His debut album NeoStockholm sounds exactly as its title implies, a hugely modern genre-blend that sounds like the cutting edge of the city’s current culture. AnnaMelina made her name with the excellent Katarsis EP, which came out earlier this year. AnnaMelina’s music is murky, cold synth-pop, her voice cutting through the glacial, synth soundscapes. Music made for dark rooms, late nights and streetlights. Together, the two are some of the most exciting and innovative artists on the scene right now, and you can see them for free this Thursday.
