Hemsöborna (The People Of Hemsö) isn’t August Strindberg’s most famous work, but it is a significant one. Written while Strindberg was abroad in France and Germany, it shows the influence that the archipelago islands he spent time on as a child had on him (Hemsö is a fictionalised version of Kymmendö). In this Stadsteatern adaption Anna Eva Flod places an ad for help with her farm, which lies neglected by her son Gusten. Carlsson answers and is an instant success, but Gusten becomes suspicious of him. Ann Petrén and Claes Malmberg take the lead roles, and it kicks off on March 17.
