The ‘Postmodern’ is having a bit of a moment. We all heard about Kellyanne Conway’s notorious “alternative facts”, and memes seem to flood everyone’s social media feeds.
It’s fitting then, that Bonniers Konsthall’s summer exhibition, curated by Niclas Östlind, will take a retrospective look at that most slippery of artistic movements. It’s been 30 years since the term first arrived on the art circuit and turned everything upside down. Visitors will have a chance to view a diverse range of art starting with the arrival of constructivism in 1947 and leading to the postmodern shift in 1987.
Bonniers Konsthall and Albert Bonniers Förlag will publish a book entitled Bokförläggaren och konsten (The Book Publisher and Art) alongside the exhibition. This book explores the life of art collector Gerard Bonnier (1917–1987), and considers his role in the Swedish art world from the early 1940s to the late 1980s.
Andra sidan skiftet/Another Side of the Shift is on display at Bonniers Konsthall until 20 Aug
