This isn’t the first time we’ve brought you news about Ingrid Witt, having previewed her show at Hobo this spring. The Stockholm-based producer and songwriter is on the release trail at the moment, with her debut EP on this way this winter. Everything Has To Be True is coming out on her own Oh Mama label on November 24, and ahead of that she’s released the single Killing Me.
Killing Me takes things in a more groove-focused direction than the hyper-pop style of her other work, wrapping its rhythm around a smooth, slick bassline. It’s full of delicate little production touches, and it all comes together into a 90s-style R’n’B banger. Witt says: “Killing Me is about a destructive relationship and about doubt. It’s about knowing that you should leave that relationship, but still you stay because parts of your body tell you that that is the only thing to do”. Killing Me is out now, and Ingrid Witt plays live with Julian Azar at Morfar Ginko on Saturday.
