Does the future sound a lot like Kelela? It’s something people have been tipping since the artist, full name Kelela Mizanekristos, released the Cut 4 Me mixtape in 2014. Her sound exists somewhere in the mix zone of a series of modern genres, blending grime, dubstep and electronic R’n’B to make a slick, futuristic vision of pop. In 2017 she released her debut album Take Me Apart, which the Guardian described as “consistently exquisite as it dances between lovesick confusion and shrewd sensuality”.
