Molière is one of history’s most famous playwrights, and Tartuffe is one of his most famous plays. Banned almost immediately after its first performance in 1664 for being ‘anti-religion’ by the Catholic Church (to be fair, every single play at this time was banned by the Catholic Church), it follows the misfortunes of the family of Orgon, who has fallen under the spell of the charismatic scammer Tartuffe, even to the point of eventually giving him all his possessions. This Dramaten version of the play updates and relocates the play to a modern home, not so far from Dramaten itself. Magnus Roosmann and Mirja Turestedt star.
