Look, ‘glamping’ is a horrifically ugly word, but I guess it’s entered the popular consciousness now and we all have to live with it. Beyond the aesthetic grimness of the word itself, glamping is getting more popular than ever, and whiskey brand Talisker are getting in on the game. As part of their Scandinavian Detours vacation guide, this summer they’re launching a glamping experience in the Stockholm archipelago.
In collaboration with the Fejan Outdoor tour agency, located on the island of Fejan north in the archipelago, the experience consists of a night for two on the island under a luxurious canvas tent, and a three-course meal prepared by the Danish star chef Mikkel Karstad. There will also be cocktails created by the celebrated bartender Mate Csatlos, as well as breakfast on the veranda the next morning.
Karstad says: “It feels fantastically fun to be a part of this and to create this unique experience, and in this way get more people to take part in and enjoy Scandinavia’s fantastic nature. The whole concept and the idea behind Scandinavian Detours fits so well with my own philosophy, which is about discovering and appreciating our Nordic surroundings. We have unbelievably exciting ingredients to work with here in the Nordic countries, and our nature is so rich in experiences, I wish more had the chance to discover it”.
The Scandinavian Detours trip to Fejan takes place on June 15-16 and August 3-4, and can be booked at www.scandinaviandetours.com
