In January, the Japanese clothing chain UNIQLO announced that they were coming to Stockholm. And now the details have been confirmed. The conglomerate will open their Stockholm boutique at Kungsträdgården, in the building known as Sverigehuset, designed by the architect Sven Gottfried Markelius. The new boutique will pay tribute to Markelius with his work featured in its interior layout.

The brand has its roots in the Yamaguchi-based company Ogori Shōji, which opened their first store in 1949. In 1984 they opened the first UNIQLO store, and in 1997 they switched to selling their own clothing exclusively. Since then the label has expanded to Canada, Australia, Germany, South Korea, France and more, with around 2000 stores worldwide. And now they’re coming to Stockholm. The brand’s LifeWear label, which focuses on practical and comfortable clothing for everyday wear, will be arriving here in August.
