Weekend

GIG: MAGIC POTION
Two and a bit years after their debut album Pink Gum, the Magic Potion boys are back in town. Their new album Endless Graffiti (a reference to the endless flows of information in our modern age) arrives on Friday, full of fuzz-rich indie-rock. It’s streaming now on Hype Machine, and you can hear it live at Slaktkyrkan on Friday. Delsbo Beach Club support.

Oct 26, 18:00-22:00, Slaktkyrkan

GIG: GRANT
Sweden’s current foremost purveyor of soaring, theatrical pop music is back in town. Grant, whose songs sound like stained glass windows translated to musical form, is coming off the back of the nationwide tour to promote her debut album In Bloom, and returns to her hometown at Debaser on Friday. She’s joined by Malmö’s Majken, whose tender, harp-led dream-pop has also won her a few fans recently.

Oct 26, 19:00-03:00, Debaser Strand

GIG: LEMAITRE/ DAGNY
And to round off the weekend in pop, Norway invades on Saturday with two of its big heavy hitters. Lemaitre are a producer duo who specialise in brassy, goofy electro-pop, and Dagny is part of the new generation of Norwegian popstars making big waves in the international music world. Their joint tour comes to Stockholm at Debaser.

Fashion brand Deadwood make their bread with leather, but in a special way. Started by Carl Ollson and Felix von Bahder in 2012, they specialise in recycled leather, retrieved from old leather products and reincarnated as new jackets and clothing. You can read an interview with von Bahder about it here. And this week, you’ll have the chance to get your hands on their gear at a special discounted price. They’re having an archive sale from Thursday to Sunday at their Gamla Stan outlet, with shop samples and items from previous collections all up for grabs. The sale opens at 08:00 on Thursday, will all purchases via card or Swish, no cash. As it’s a special sale, there are also no returns. It continues until Sunday.

EXHIBITION: ARTIPELAG
Artipelag’s autumn exhibition Margiela/ Hermès takes a look back at a notable time in fashion history, and the collaboration between Belgian designer Martin Margiela and the historic fashion house Hermès. Between the years 1997 and 2003, Margiela was given the task of creating women’s collections for the 200-year-old brand. This collaboration created fashion that went to places never explored before, an avant-garde mix of Margiela’s adventurism and Hermès’ tradition and heritage. The exhibition runs until March, having been originally put together by Margiela and Kaat Debo for ModeMuseum Antwerp. This Artipelag version presents Margiela’s own work in contrast with his Hermès creations.
