The amount of rubbish floating around in the ocean these days is a major environmental problem, as you might have noticed from the fact that the world is now home to the Pacific Garbage Patch. This might have been a motivating factor for outdoorwear brand Tretorn when it came to their new Sphere Lightweight Jacket, a slick, functional jacket designed for spring, summer and autumn wear.

The jacket uses the Tretorn’s own material Ocean Shell, manufactured from plastic recovered and recycled from the world’s oceans. Ocean Shell is made of PET polyester, which also means that when the jacket itself comes to the end of its lifespan, it’s also recyclable. For men’s sizes the jacket comes in Seagrass and Dark Navy, and the women’s sizes come in Chalk white and Dark Navy.

“We see a strong demand for sustainable products within the fashion industry. With the launch of the Sphere Lightweight Jacket, which is made from recycled polyester and a membrane made from recycled plastic from the ocean, we have created a product which is both sustainable and looks good in all weathers”, says Johanna Gartmyr, designer at Tretorn.

The Sphere jacket is available from February 15 online and in outlets like VOLT, Grandpa and other outdoor stores.
