Weekend

GIG: STEPHEN MALKMUS & THE JICKS/ VERO
Admittedly, this is probably not the biggest news in the eyes of Stephen Malkmus fans at the moment, with the news arriving last week that his classic band Pavement were reuniting for shows next summer. Still though, him and his other band, The Jicks, coming to town is pretty big news, and they pull in at Debaser on Friday. Support comes from rock trio Vero, who recently released their debut EP Saxophones and Danger Zones.

Jun 7, 19:00-00:00, Debaser Strand

FOOTBALL: TRÄDGÅRDEN
The 2019 Women’s World Cup kicks off on Friday, with host nation France going up against South Korea. There are few better places to watch it in the city than Trädgården, who’ll be showing it (along with most of the tournament’s matches) on the big screen.
Jun 7, 21:00-23:00, Trädgården

FOOD FESTIVAL: VÄXTHUSFESTEN
And you might even want to head to Trädgården a day early for Växthusfesten, a festival where food, music and art meet. Natural wines are Trädgården’s new obsession, so there’ll be plenty of those around, along with grilling, vegan pizza, an art market from FemArt and music from DJs Gavin Maycroft and Noshin & Zozo.
Jun 6, 14:00-03:00, Trädgården

DRINKS: STOCKHOLM GIN FESTIVAL
And of course, for all gin fanatics there’s only one place to be this weekend. Stockholm Gin Festival 2019 takes over the Clarion Sign this Saturday, with gins from all over the world competing and being evaluated. Nordic gin is the focus this year, but there’ll be samples from as far away as Japan.
Jun 8, 15:00-21:00, Clarion Sign

CLUB: RIFT
Red Bull Music Festival is taking over the city this weekend, but maybe one of the most exciting events occurring is RIFT at Obaren. It’s boundary-pushing label Year0001’s club concept, with cutting edge visuals and a line-up of some of the most talented rising artists, producers and DJs on the scene. Thaiboy Digital and Ecco2K perform live with DJ sets from Toxe and more.
