Cinema Queer

Stockholm’s annual queer film festival is back this September, and for this edition they’re thinking about anniversaries. The theme for this year is Resistance, celebrating three anniversaries, 75 years of the decriminalisation of homosexuality, 50 years since Stonewall and 40 years since the ‘Friskförklaringen’, when Sweden’s Socialstyrelsen declassified homosexuality as an illness.

The festival opens on Tuesday, September 24, with a showing of the short film Stonewall Forever and The Wizard Of Oz, starring LGBTQ icon Judy Garland (though unfortunately this event is now fully-booked). Over the course of the rest of the festival, you’ll find boat parties, city tours in the footsteps of important figures and of course, a packed line-up of film until the festival’s conclusion on September 29.
