The stats tell the story. Research carried out by the magazine Konstnären pulled up the fact that only 3.5% of the artists exhibited at Stockholm’s most established galleries are non-white, a fact that many people understandably feel shows that Stockholm’s artists are not being fairly represented. So in response to this, the platform 3,5% has been created, which works only with POC and NBPOC artists and curators in order to help correct this imbalance, and open up space for non-white artists on the Stockholm scene.
Now 3,5% is opening an exhibition at Bångska Våningen, that will put on display the work, perspectives and stories of non-white artists previously marginalised on the Stockholm arts scene. Artists featured include Diana Agunbiade-Kolawole, Salad Hilowle, Anna Ting Möller and Senay Berhe, and the exhibition is open until October 12.
