Stockholmsverken

The Stockholmsverken industrial area has recently come under the reigns of property managers AMF Fastigheter, and this weekend art is taking over. They’ve invited in several Stockholm galleries to fill it with exhibitions, under the guise of Monopol, a collaboration between Belenius, Johan Berggren Gallery and Elastic Gallery. They’ve put together an international group exhibition with the focus on the future in the form of computers, gaming and technology. The Monopol concept started back in 2013 as a platform for small galleries to put on independent exhibitions.

“Stockholmsverken attracted us, both the venue and the opportunity. We straight away saw the potential in the place, to display works in a creative environment that’s full of energy, but is not yet entirely realised. The raw surfaces creative an exciting and dynamic contrast to the works, and that the area is a creative hub for among other things, computer games, got us to think about how the digital world and games are treated in art”, says Katarina Sjögren of Belenius.

The exhibition includes a talk on Saturday on the relationship between computer games and art, moderated by Ashik Zaman of C-print.

Monopol x Stockholmsverken, Oct 4-6, Magnus Ladulåsgatan 6–10, 12:00-17:00
